Community Farm Share Collaboration (2022)

Supported by a 2022 Artists Respond Grant from the Connecticut Office of the Arts, I was a year-long artist-in-residence with root2RISE, a local non-profit focused on culturally responsive outdoor education. Our collaboration centered on their visual and creative communication. I supported the team with mission-driven conversations and developed handmade designs and images that elevate their vision and values. This work grew into a public art communications project in conjunction with their October Community Farm Share, which supports local BIPOC farmers and cultivates a sustainable food system. Over 200 food share bags were screenprinted with one of three original designs. These bags included a pack of crayons to engage with the designs and coloring page flyer. There were also two POP-UP events at local schools where kids learned to screenprint and made their own poster.

This project was funded in part by the Department of Economic and Community Development, Office of the Arts, which also receives support from the federal ARPA.
